Riding/Lessons/Boarding

Undermountain Farm specializes in adult and young beginners. We make a special effort to have friendly and reliable school horses.

Pony rides are available for young children. They are a wonderful introduction to the equine world for little future riders. We welcome visitors. But please do not feed or touch the horses or enter their stalls at any time!

Advanced riders will find that our instructors have a deep knowledge of riding technique and horses. They can help you enjoy your riding and your relationship with your own horse.

Riding

  • Pony Rides
    Pony rides are available most of the time, unless the barn is particularly busy or if there is a horseshow. The cost is $20 minimum for 15 minutes. To be safe please call ahead.
  • Trail Riding
    UMF has many lovely trails. One of our instructors will take you out on the trail. Normally the ride lasts one hour. This is enough time to enjoy the wonderful forests, back roads and fields that we ride through. For all riders our instructors will need to evaluate your skills before going out with an hour evaluative lesson. Please be sure to wear comfortable and appropriate clothing. Cost is $60 per person. A Mastercard, Visa, or American Express will be required to reserve your time.  The largest groups we take out are 6 riders.
  • Tresson
    Is a group ride that takes place on Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday from 4-6 pm or Sundays from 2-4 pm.  The cost is $30 for the two hours session which includes grooming, tacking, horse-care instruction for riders of all levels. Generally, the groups are 4-8 riders, but larger groups are welcome!

Lessons

Undermountain Farm is proud to have several skilled licensed instructors. Please call 413-637-3365 well in advance to schedule your lesson so that you will not be disappointed. The calendar can be quite full at times.

Our instructors start new riders with a 1/2 hour private lesson (cost $35) which enables them to evaluate their needs and skill.

Riders may continue with private lessons or UMF might be able to put you into a suitable weekly group for a 1 hour lesson at the same cost.

The charge for a one hour private lesson is $70.

A semi-private lesson for 2 or 3 riders is $40 for each rider for one hour.

Board your horse at Undermountain Farm.

We offer many levels of horse care. We offer full care  regular board for  $550 per month (this includes worming, grain, hay, and turn-0ut).   Training board can be arranged with the barn manager.
